A plea for advice

OK, so let the advice flow begin.
I have one room available soon. It's big. I don't need big. It's expensive. I don't like expensive.
The other option is this: live in the hostel until they kick me out around Christmas, and then mooch off of the contacts I have made until this other gentleman finishes setting up an apartment that will be better location and cheaper.
Now, of course, this looks easy on paper, but I really have no idea how reliable this guy is, and a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush, right?
I'm not sure if that saying has a clause that says that if the birds in the bush are better that it's advice is void, but I'm confused.
Then again, as Josh said, it's just money...
What should I do? I'm lost.

Hey, boy ... love you miss you yadayaha. Okay, how expensive is expensive? And does it lock you in? And can you get a clearer picture of what's available by hostelling until Christmas? If you have doubts about reliability, maybe a few more days would give them time to settle. Or another option to arise. Hard to determine from a distance, but I don't think you should panic. Check at the restaurant, check with those contacts. But, in the end, you need and deserve a touch of stability. And when you're working, expensive won't seem so much so. For what it's worth.

if you can arrange that woudnt be locked in, take the life of luxury for a month or so while the other place gets set up, then decide where you want to be. Like your wise papa said, your a workin man pat.

Hey.
I like Josh's thing... its just money. and i guess thats right... i mean its gonna do you no good when your dead so you may as well use it now. I'd say live the expensive, but hostile, sounds like an adventure to me. But Im not really the greatest source of advice. You're a wise kid. I'm sure you'll figure something out, and it will all work out in the end. Like it always does.
I hope everything is amazing and you are having the experience of your life.
I'm super jelous of you right now tho, even if you're homeless, warmth, sun and beaches? we can trade anyday.
miss ya & take care of yourself.

Hey! i miss ya and i'm sorry i haven't written sooner. From my experience with housing in Calgary - I would say take what you can get. If its not as bad out there as it is here.. i would go with the fun big appartment for a while - but don't commit to anything. Month - to - month is awesome if they will do it. I seem to be agreeing with everyone else at the moment, but, and i can tell you this from experience in Montreal - take an apartment that you will be comfortable in, and don't give it up because it costs a little more. If you can afford it - go with it.
Miss ya tons! and keep having fun! i'm so jealous! (i'm now a receptionist at a company that takes a long time to explain. if you're interested and have some time its called Guest-tek.) I'll write again soon! promise!

Hey Pat!
I think Rob's idea is a good one, its better to at least have a place to stay in untill you have something more affordable/better for you than nothing at all right? And I think if you keep living in a hostel without really knowing whats gonna happen - well it sounds kind of cool and exciting, living on a whim BUT! Its probably going ot get very stressful for you! And I mean, this trip is supposed to be um.... fun for you right? Not stressful!
I hope my advice is useful :S
